On Waking up — Why and but are stop words. They are useful for getting us off-track, as we pretend to be working on our issues. Uttering either means that you are stuck, pure and simple.
On Waking Up — Awake as compared to Asleep It’s hard to admit, but our lives are mostly lived on autopilot. While there are plenty of reasons for “sleeping while awake,” (brain efficiency, etc.) the main reason we do it it is that we fear the work being awake entails.
. It is impossible to live life free of anxiety. There is the anxiety that comes when deciding to shift one’s way of being–the anxiety of change, of pain, of growth. And, there is the anxiety of trying to stay the same, in denial, pretending.
Bring Wisdom — If life has any meaning, it is this: each event of life has the potential to bring wisdom. The wise person is able to see through the events of life to their essence, in a moment of simple engagement.
True intimacy is found as we let go of our dependence on our minds, and begin to add in a body based focus.
Body Gates — there are gates in the body — metaphoric passages from one stage of development to another. We look at moving into the “full expression of self” — into full being.
Bodywork is all about disentangling yourself from your wacky thoughts. We all have them. Blaming, chiding, criticizing, ornery thoughts.
vulnerability is considered a weakness… fear of vulnerability is ingrained at a deep level, to our detriment, once we become adults.
